How Yoga and Hypnosis Complement Talk Therapy

The body stores memories, including physical and emotional trauma and injury, at the cellular level. When a person is stuck or unable to acknowledge, much less verbally express, his/her feelings, employing mind-body modalities such as yoga, breathing practices, and body-parts dialogues may open a portal to awareness and expression. Yoga stretching and breathing practices, guided gently with a skilled teacher, are ways to relieve physical and mental stress and tension, alleviating pain in body and mind.

Hypnosis relaxes the conscious mind to allow the discovery of the unconscious mechanisms that have been blocking healing progress. Importantly, positive suggestions of release and healing help replace negative thought patterns and detrimental habitual behaviors, empowering one to actualize desired changes.

As an adjunct to traditional talk therapy, both of these protocols are powerful tools in aiding healing and growth.
